Today I decided to make a dutch baby also known as a pfannkuchen in German. P.S, no this is not just a random collection of words and no I do not know how to pronounce it.
For the full version of this dutch baby recipe go to Simply Recipes, for a Oh Grate overview continue reading down below.
First melt butter in a 400 degree oven. You will also need to heat the cast iron skillet in the 400 degree oven for eight minutes.
Along with 1 tbsp of butter combine flour, eggs, egg whites, milk, sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla.
Pour the remaining 2 tbsp of butter and batter into the warmed skillet.
Cook the dutch baby for 20 minutes. Be sure not to open the oven or the baby will come falling from the tree cradle and all. Or in other more grown-up words (not that I’m ever grown-up) the dutch baby will collapse and you might have to call the whaa-bulance.
Serve with powdered sugar, honey, or maple syrup and enjoy eating your baby.
