Last Friday was my mother’s birthday. In celebration of her birthday we went out to eat. We ate at a cute little downtown eatery called Gabe’s Downtown. Gabe’s was so adorable it had little recipe blocks on the wall.
It was very crowded because it’s only open for lunch until 2:00 PM and didn’t open for dinner until 5:00 PM.
The bread was set on the table in this cute packaging. The bread was soft, fluffy and delicious.
At the restaurant we were looking at the appetizers and I was looking at the recipe blocks hanging on the wall and I noticed one that had a recipe for their balsamic reduction. I noticed that it had brown sugar in it. I myself was not hoping to get that but my mom thought it sounded fabulous and it was her birthday so we ordered it.
It had toast points with homemade mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, the balsamic reduction, and heirloom tomatoes.
I ordered the Shrimp scampi pasta and my mother had the mozzarella chicken and they were delicious. The shrimp scampi had angle hair pasta, shrimp, tomatoes, Portobello mushrooms, arugala, olive oil and fresh basil.
The mozzarella stuffed chicken had panko crusted, marinara, angle hair pasta and flash fried spinach.
Over all I think that Gabe’s was a good experience. I would just suggest going on a nice cool Tuesday so its not so busy. All and all I think it was oh so great!
