Pour Some Sugar…On These Gumdrops!

Gumdrops

Today I decided to make gum drops, and as my mom keeps trying to insist is a thing, I say “Goodie, goodie gum drops!” You can get the full ingredients list at Bakerella where I got this recipe.

GumdropsFirst make sure to have 3, 3×5 pans and start by softening gelatin in a pot in cold water for 5 minutes.

Stir in boiling water until gelatin is dissolved.

Stir in your sugar. I had a little bit of a problem guessing how much white sugar I actually had, so I used some all natural sugar I had left over from another recipe. That is why the color is weird in the next picture.

Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat and once it reaches a boil stir constantly for 25 minutes. Pour the mixture into your pans and add in any extracts for flavoring and some fun colors of food coloring (not gel) to make your gumdrops pop.

For my colors I used blue…

…purple…

…and green.

Gumdrops

I used lemon, orange and peppermint extracts.

Cover the pans and chill them overnight in the fridge.

Now after they have chilled overnight you can cut them into cubes. Make sure to use a knife dipped in hot water to make it easier.

Now roll them in sugar.

Gumdrops

Put the gumdrops on waxed or parchment paper for two days to crystalize.  Then enjoy!

Gumdrops

There is no “sugar coating” how “goodie” they are. lol.

I printed the labels from Bakarella also.
